It is that time of year again!  No, not Thanksgiving or Christmas just yet!  It’s actually voting time!

The Nashville Scene’s Best of Nashville, is an annual reader’s choice poll, in which you write in your favorites from categories such as Food & Drink, Arts & Entertainment, Media, Home, Shopping, Kids and more.  The voting layout is simple and you don’t have to sign up for anything in order for your vote to count!  You can even vote multiple times (once a day).

So, here’s what Main Event Productions is asking of our friends!   Show your love for The Bake Shoppe for best Local Cake Baker, A Catered Affair for Best Cater and Best Chef, and any other category that you see fitting!  Help us be seen in the scene!

If you have yet to experience our remarkable service, please call Kellie at 615-321-2394 or email cater@acateredaffair.net

Perhaps some of you reading this might think we are slightly crazy for thinking that the Christmas season has already approached!  Though I will not deny nor confirm that we aren’t all a little crazy, it is never too early to at least be brainstorming some ideas on how to make this year’s Christmas party or event stand out above all the rest!

The holiday season is my favorite time of year!  When it comes to family and friend gatherings and parties there is always the process of incorporating old traditions with contemporary twists, revisiting sweet memories and creating new ones!

Main Event Productions and all of it’s family members–Events @1418, A Catered Affair, The Bake Shoppe, and Fantastic Flipbooks–excel in creating just that balance!  So, this year, instead of waiting till the last minute, plan now and have a stress-free, glamorous, magical, tasty, memorable, one-of-a-kind holiday experience for you, your family, friends, co-workers, and/or company!

On June 24, 2010 Main Event Productions introduced our newest and most exciting division called Fantastic Flipbooks.  This was launched at our Open House where all the sister divisions-The Bake Shoppe, A Catered Affair, and Events @1418-were all dressed up to help introduce this newest addition to our Nashville friends!

Here’s a look at what A Catered Affair was dishing out…

Mediterranean Pita Trio:  Mini Pita Pockets filled with guests’ choice of our signature thinly sliced pastrami and drizzled with tzatziki sauce, grilled vegetable with feta cheese or a grilled sausage with relish.

Teatime Tomatoes:  Cherry tomatoes hollowed and piped with a mild curried bean mixture and garnished with parsley while served on bed of kosher salt

Chilled Honey Cucumber Gazpacho

Seared Mahi-Mahi with wild mushroom powder and smoky salsa on flat bread toast

Mini Salad Stacks Action Station – Pre stacked mini salads that are then transferred onto a plate in which guests can drizzle with a spicy blueberry or sweet green chili vinaigrette

Your choice of Lemon, Chocolate, or Raspberry Mini Mousse Cups

Our guests also enjoyed our bar station where our latest and greatest lemonade with fresh mint was served alongside of our spiked lemonade cocktails!  Glasses of Red Cherry Lifesaver Lemonade, Lynchburg Lemonade, and Peach Margaritas finished the evening and all around delightful event!

Recently we have had a lot of brides choose their favorite salads for the wedding reception dinner.  Salads can be an interesting first course or a main entree.

Many of our clients who opt for no alcohol at their event still want fun and festive beverages.  We played around in the kitchen last week and made some new tasty lemonades — Blood Orange Lemonade, Mint Meyer Lemonade (mentioned a couple posts back)  and Strawberry Lemonade.

We have had so many clients who opt not to have alcohol present at their event.  Sometimes it is just not appropriate to have alcohol, sometimes it is not affordable — there are many reasons why alcohol will not be part of a party — wedding or otherwise.

I do not have a single client who wants BORING — so what can we do to be less BORING on non alcoholic beverage stations — well, lemonade bars have been quite popular.

We played with some lemons recently – as well as other fruit to make some new recipes.  Blood orange lemonade turned out quite nicely — took a few hours to play around and come up with a good sweet and sour ratio.

This picture of Meyer lemons — they taste a great as they look!  We did a Meyer lemonade for our bar. Slightly sweeter than traditional lemons and definitely more colorful!

Events @ 1418 is THE location for many special events.  Last month we had one of our very supportive clients (our very first non-family client!)  in for their annual holiday party.  Each year we strive to help them have a different experience.  If you scroll way down, you can see photos from their cooking class dinner.

This year we produced dinner and a murder.  The murder was set during the 1920′s and the guests really got into their roles – what great costumes!

Phil Thornton with Phindy Studios captured the fun and here are the images for you to see.

The guests met at the host’s home in Murfreesboro where Judi ( see above photo) provided appetizers but her main role was to get the guests into their respective roles.  Little did we know just how little prompting would be needed to get these party people going.  During the coach drive to Event@1418, guests continued to role play and visit.

Upon arrival guests received passed hors d’ oeuvres and cocktails while moving to the next stage of the “game”.  The murder happened before the main course was served and much sleuthing then ensued.

I won’t tell “who done it” — book your own Murder Mystery at Events@1418 and let the catering team take care of your next event!

Off premise catering is fun, exciting and challenging.  The Parthenon is a great venue to host an event.  One special perk is that the rental fee is tax deductible – what a great way to save money just by booking an event!

A Catered Affair has helped many clients produce wonderful parties at The Parthenon.  Please enjoy this short video clip of setup to party time.  This particular event was produced with Destination Nashville – one of Nashville’s premier event companies — they are a very successful, nationally recognized destination management company located right here in Nashville.
