Not every Bride wants a traditional tiered wedding cake anymore. Some opt for a small cake and a trio of desserts, some nix the cake all together and have a sundae bar, and others like this Bride want the look of a traditional wedding cake with the portability of a cupcake!

Check out a few fun photos from one of our January Brides taken at The Loveless Barn!

And what groom wouldn’t want this decadent chocolate cake with luscious strawberries and chocolate dipped strawberries?

We love this rustic hutch as a beverage station. Usually when we are trying to achieve a look like this, we turn to our friends at Southern Events in Franklin to find the most awesome pieces of vintage furniture.

We’ve all see those amazing whisket barrels in thrift stores or old barns. I just love the rustic look of these huge yet functional pieces of wood, but have never been able to think of a good enough use for them to deal with the hassel of transporting one.

Well, we’ve put our heads together and come up with several reasons to lug those big beautiful barrels home with you!

Bridal Stress Relief – Honey Ginger Tea

Got stress? Relieve it with this recipe for Honey Ginger Tea.

  • 1-inch piece ginger root, peeled
  • 1 large strip lemon rind
  • 6 cups water
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 4 camomile or other tea bags

Slice the ginger into coins. Heat the ginger, lemon rind, water and honey to a boil in small pot. Add lemon juice to hot water and transfer to a tea pot. Add tea bags to pot and steep. Remove bags and serve.

Did that help? We thought so.

Vendor Highlight: Kristyn Hogan Photography

The spark for Kristyn Hogan Photography initially started with a 10 yr. old little girl dressing up her little brother and neighbor girl as a bride and groom, picking up a camera and bringing make-believe to life.  At 18, she had the pleasure of shooting her first “real” Bride and Groom and was hooked!

kristynhogan_1327837883_o Since then, she has been capturing moments on film with her husband. They believe that a wedding isn’t just a day, it’s the full experience.

Kristyn leaves this note to Brides on her website: From the moment you met the one to the day he got down on one knee. Through all the planning to your beautiful wedding day to the rest of your life. It’s a journey. One that we love to share and a story we are honored to tell.

Check out a small sample of Kristyn’s work!  We’d like to give a big THANK YOU to Kristyn Hogan photography for sending over some fantastic photos of some 2011 Bake Shoppe cakes!

Mason jars have long since been a symbol of the South, and recently, they have become a very trendy item used in a variety of ways to add a bit of southern character to an event. I’ve found 5 inspiration photos to demonstrate ways to incorporate this trend into your event decor.

Drinking Glasses

mason-glass

This is the traditional way to utilize mason jars during receptions or Special Events. Having a keg? Skip the Pint and Pilsner glasses and opt for mason jars! Or serve a signature lemonade or cocktail in the vintage tumblers.

Lighting

mason-candles mason-chandelier hanging-mason-candles

Whether dangling from wire allowing the glowing orbs of light sway in the wind, adding pops of color and light to a candle chandelier, or simply wrapped in raffia set atop tables in a centerpiece illuminating the smiles on your guests faces, the soft candle light through the glass of a mason jar creates the perfect ambient atmosphere for weddings.

Favors

mason-pies

These precious little pies are assemble and baked right into these pint-sized mason jars making them the perfect portable treat for your guests to take home!
